Considered to be a trending lifestyle now (thanks to social media), it is absolutely fine to take pride in flaunting your baby bump and being grateful - for you are the chosen one to procreate and nurture. It is the first and the most crucial phase of building an unique bond with your soon-to-be born. Although, to share it on social media or to keep it personal - is purely an individual perspective that has to be respected.
Below are a few things to be considered before your incredible shoot:
- Ideal month for the shoot: Though every month adds some pounds, the ideal month is the beginning of the 9th month. Just a few weeks or a fortnight before your due date will allow you to capture the full bloom and make you marvel at nature's magical transformation from a tiny seed that was once planted.
- Dressing: Your comfort during these times is of utmost importance. Hence, dress accordingly. Nevertheless, the following are considered to be an 'all time perfect' for an amazing maternity shoot.
- A Maxi dress (with a belt): It is the most comfortable wear. Also, because of it's flowing-loose nature, you have the scope of either pulling it over the belly and showing your bump or just letting it loose and not show the full grown bump. Also, with the wind, maxi dresses make for an amazing movement in still photos. A belt will further accentuate your belly. :)
- Bodycon Dress: Bodycon dresses come under the category of tight clothing and are apt incase you want to capture all those natural curves your body has been bestowed with in these amazing phase.
- Solid and Pastel Colours: Avoid prints and stick to solid colours as prints act as a distraction and take away the focus from the only point of attraction - 'your bump'. Pastel shades add a soothing effect to the photos.
- Location: Since the entire exercise will take about an hour or a lil more, select the location based on your comfort - either indoors or outdoors. Although, outdoor environment adds to some stunning background thereby making it a timeless moment to be captured and placed on your wall. Indoor environment can be tweaked to suit the angles of the shoot.
- Props: Props add a character to the photos and at times also helps to add context to a scene. Select your props carefully. Balloons and a pair of baby shoes are common maternity photoshoot props for various reasons. Apart from these, it could be any other accessories donned by you like a heavy neck piece, flowers, hat, scarves and anything in the natural surrounding incase of an outdoor shoot.
- Photo Poses: Exclusive poses makes you appear more photogenic. Experiment with some candid shots to still poses. Figure out some amazing sensational poses from Pinterest and other social media platforms.
