If you ever thought that juggling between professional life and motherly duties would be easy in this Pandemic with work from home option being made available then it was just an illusion. Working moms are always surrounded with a set of unique challenges, let alone the pandemic! And with every challenge that they face and every victory they achieve, they emerge as more confident, ever ready to conquer the big bad world.
Amidst all the responsibilities they shoulder, striking a fine work-life balance while juggling between the daily parenting chores and meeting the deadlines and targets on the professional front seems a distant dream. But it's okay to pause, breathe and take out some time to feel your existence. Because at the end of the day, all what matters is your health and well being - both physical as well as emotional. Hope the following tips help in striking a work-life balance.
Tips to Strike a Work-Life Balance for Working Moms:
- Daily Planner-cum-Scheduling: Effectively planning your day is the first step towards effective time management. Learn to prioritize the task at hand and get it done without procrastination. Remember, by procrastinating, you may delay. But time will not delay and this might lead to more stress and frustration due to piling up.
- Assigning Small Activities to the Kids: Knowing that you would be keeping busy all day and to keep your tiny distraction at bay, assign them some small activities like painting, solving puzzles, writing etc. Inform them that you would check it at a particular time and reward them for their efforts. A reward could be even a small star mark on the hand with a marker. Kids love it!
- Spend Quality Time with Kids: Often working moms are guilty of not being able to spend much time with their kids. But remember, instead of spending more time, focus on spending quality time with your lil one daily. Indulge in some cuddling, reading stories and gaming activities daily for at least an hour.
- Be a lil selfish: Unfortunately when God made mothers, he forgot to bless them with more then 24 hours a day. So learn to squeeze time from your busy schedule at least once a week and pamper yourself. Take a break, go for a spa, catch up with your friends, watch movies, pursue your hobby, relax, unwind and rejuvenate because you deserve it.
- Master the Art of Disconnecting: Learn to overcome FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out) by keeping the phone at bay for once in a while. Work is important but so is your mental health. Learn the art of disconnecting by detaching from the world and connecting with your inner self by introspecting.
Yes, we are equal to our fellow male counterparts in many ways but we are not identical. Since we bake the bun in the oven for nine months, our bodies deserve that special attention, care and pampering at regular intervals. 😊
Sharing is Caring! :)
